Kids at the beach, throwing stones, eating sand and running away from dead crabs. I’ve added a new piece to my portfolio, but not this one (check homepage).

Dogs In My Hood - New Holga Piece

A couple of weekends ago, when the snow was still thick on the ground in East Vancouver, I decided to get out and shoot a new Holga series. The idea was simple: take a walk around the neighborhood and photograph all the dogs I met along the way. I think it turned out well, I really enjoy the way each dog’s personality comes through. Maybe that’s why I like dogs so much, they are as they appear to be. I’m planning more work like this, in fact I’m coming up with new ideas faster than I could possibly shoot them. The problem space offered by a cheap plastic camera with an incredibly limited range of operation is wonderfully limited. The constraints it places on me are proving to be incredibly liberating….

A little aside to accompany this week’s post: an early reggae mix I made recently, showcasing someĀ  all-time classics by the likes of The Duke Reid Group, Alton Ellis, The Heptones, Cornell Campbell, The Ethopians, and Sugar Minnott, all served with touch of special sauce. Enjoy!

Wedding website launched….

January 20th, 2009

After a couple of months in the making, I finally launched my wedding website on Friday - JunaWeddings.com is born! I’m pretty happy with the final look. I wanted to make something interesting and a little bit different and I think I succeeded. I’m hoping to take some bookings in Ireland in the summer of ‘09, and then focus on shooting in Vancouver in 2010.

Dumfries finest…..

January 3rd, 2009

The is the Cork-based artist Tom Campbell, originally hailing from the town of Dumfries in Scotland. I took some shots of Tom last summer while I was back home and I’ve finally got around to adding this one to my portfolio. I’m a big fan of Tom’s work, which is why I agreed to design and build his website in return for some of his work. You can peruse said website here.
